An Application Programming Interface (API) is a term used to describe the mechanisms that allow an application to access data or functionality provided by another application, system or service. For example, DHL’s APIs can allow your application to access data such as tracking information for a specific shipment.

Some APIs require you to have a customer account. This is because they can trigger billable services and transactions. Check the documentation for the specific APIs that you are interested in to determine if you need to have a DHL customer account.
